Company Amaxa was founded in 1998 in Köln, Germany. This is a company that employes 120 people and has one of the world's largest research groups in the field of non-viral gene transfer. Gene transfer into cells is a critical step at many research fields in biology and medicine as well in development of new drugs and therapies.
Up until now, gene transfer into primary cells was limited by use of viral vectors, and therefore non-viral methods failed to produce good efficiency and reproducible results. Amaxa Nucleofector Technology has significantly contributed to efficiency of primary cells transfection and hard-to transfer cells.
Nucleofector Technology enables DNA & siRNA transfer and antisense into citoplasma as well as to the cell nucleus (solution for obtaining cell lines), while period from transfection to expression of proteins is now counted for only few hours.
